Have you fallen in love with podcasts? If you find yourself listening to a different show most days, you aren’t alone! Podcasts are now big business, and they have gone mainstream in every possible market.
But here’s the thing—we don’t think the wonders of podcasts should be limited to adults. The same realities of the format that make it so appealing to adults have a lot to offer young listeners, as well. If you have been thinking about letting your kids try some podcast listening to see if they’re also fans of the experience, we’d like to use this post to introduce a number of great podcasts for kids.
Please note: while these podcasts are great, we haven’t listened to each and every episode so please understand that we can’t vouch for every bit of their content. Now that that’s out of the way…on to the list!
Where else were we going to start this list? We are very proud of the podcast we produce for our audience, and while adults can certainly enjoy the show, your kids are sure to love what they hear. Everything that we mentioned in the title of this article—learning, music, and getting goofy—will be delivered time after time. If you are worried that your kids might find the world of podcasts a bit boring, there won’t be any concerns on that front when you listen to (or watch!) our kid-friendly podcasts. All it will take is one episode, and you can expect your kids to start asking for more!
Kids have questions. Lots of questions. We all know that as parents, but sometimes it can still surprise you just how many things they want to know. There is great joy in answering some of those big questions on your own, but you can also let a show like the Brains On! podcast do a bit of the lifting for you.
This show stays fresh thanks to a wide range of science topics that are covered from week to week, along with the rotating cast of hosts. For the curious kid, you’ll find hours of entertainment with this fun and informative podcast.
You can think of this podcast as story time brought into the 21st century. Rather than telling stories around a campfire, for example, these stories are told over a podcast—but they are just as enjoyable! The team behind this show turns the original stories that are submitted by real kids into unique, hilarious audio adventures. It’s a safe bet that your kids will connect to this show, and they’ll probably start to come up with their own story ideas before the first episode has even ended.
Again, we come back to the theme of kids wanting to learn and explore the world around them. Kids can submit questions on a number of topics to the show, and the answers will be provided in an engaging, memorable way. You might wind up helping your kids develop their own questions for the show, or you could play a similar game on your own where they submit questions to you for answers.
As one of the top funny podcasts for kids, the two hosts of this show offer plenty of goofy humor, but don’t let the silliness distract you from the fact that there is also some excellent learning to be had! That’s a big part of what makes podcasts for kids such a great platform; their young minds can grow and expand while they simply think they are having fun listening to a cool show.
Folktales are great for kids, as the stories usually bring together many interesting elements while also delivering a valuable lesson. In this case, the podcast provides kids with many of these folktales from around the globe, and they are produced at an impressive level. Outstanding storytelling is the highlight of this show, and it just might prove to be one of your kid’s favorites.
As a parent, you have certainly had the experience of seeing your kids zone out in front of a show on a tablet or TV. You might be wondering if there is something better you could have them do. The best podcasts for kids are an appealing alternative because of the way they demand the young listener to engage with the content and think about the stories that are being told. Taking away the visual element will activate parts of the brain that might not get involved otherwise and will make for a richer experience for your kids.
Of course, visual podcasts have their advantages, too! That’s why Go Fish offers both video and audio versions of our podcast for kids. That way, you can listen along wherever you are, or you can watch the Go Fish Guys get goofy with props, costumes, and cool graphics! However you engage with podcasts, we have you covered.
You will likely get to a point where your kids are able to enjoy podcast content on their own, especially as the months and years pass. To get started, however, this is a great family activity. You could try introducing one of the podcasts we discussed above while you are on a long drive in the car. That’s the perfect place for an audio entertainment experience, and you can connect as a family over the fun and entertaining content.
The only way to know how your kids are going to respond to some of the best kids’ podcasts is to give them a chance to listen to or watch a couple shows and see what happens from there. We’d love for you to start with some of the episodes of The Go Fish Podcast for Kids! You’ll find that every one of our episodes includes plenty of laughs, great music, and an encouraging theme or topic.
Start today by checking out our show in a number of locations, including on Spotify and YouTube. While you are at it, be sure to give your kids a chance to listen to some of our music; we’ve been passionately creating tunes for years that kids will love and parents won’t hate! It would be an honor to have you listen in!
